Think BIG Student Club Challenge
Vote to support student clubs!
What big idea could we fund to make a difference?
In December, we asked student clubs to tell us what they would do with the resources to make their big idea a reality.
Now we want to know:
Which big idea would you choose?
The Ebony Gala
Bellingham HS Black Student Union, Sehome HS Young Multicultural Society
The Ebony Gala would allow communities from Squalicum, Bellingham, and Sehome high schools to come together and truly celebrate Black culture by way of sharing conversations, food, dance, music and culture. This would advance the ideals of the Bellingham Promise by empowering Black voices, sharing student passions to the community, and allow visitors to deepen their knowledge of our culture.
Mariner Wellness Week
Sehome Sports Medicine Club
The Sehome Sports Medicine Club envisions a school-wide wellness celebration designed to help students recharge, move, and connect. Each day would bring new themes and include guided breathing, nutrition stations, hydration challenges, and movement exploration. Funding would provide supplies, materials, and incentives.
Work Hard, Play Hard
Squalicum Link Crew
Squalicum’s Link Crew brings together 9th graders with older senior mentors to foster an inclusive and safe environment. The Link Crew proposes a team bonding day that would forge strong connections between current and incoming seniors, including participating in the Challenge Course at Firwood, and having a space to share their wisdom and inspire and encourage the incoming Crew.
Aim High
Sehome Aviation Club
The Aviation Club would invest their Think Big money into flight simulator equipment, a computer, and software. Keeping flight simulators in the classroom would mean that current and future aviation enthusiasts can be assured that they have access to flight simulation technology, while also growing enthusiasm and bolstering classroom lessons.
Squalicum Poetry Anthology
Squalicum Poetry Club
The Squalicum Poetry Club wants to bring poetry into the lives of every student by creating a Poetry Anthology where any Squalicum student can see their writing published in a short anthology. By sharing and reading each other’s work, bonds and connections can form through shared experiences and emotions, while also promoting inclusion, freedom of speech, and creativity.
Thinking Big, Speaking Loud
Bellingham United Debate Team
The Bellingham United Debate Team would like to establish a dedicated fund for expenses to compete at the NSDA National Debate Tournament, as there is no sustainable way for the team to bring many people each year. The Think Big money would serve as a foundation for a long-term plan, filling in the gaps that fundraising can’t meet – including registration and travel costs.
Cleanliness Coalition
Squalicum Rotary Interact
The Rotary Interact Club would like to support struggling students by purchasing hygiene and basic needs supplies. The care packages would include items like soap, deodorant, tampons, toothbrushes, etc., available for any students who could utilize them.
