Think BIG Student Club Challenge
What could your club do with $2,000?
We know Bellingham has some of the most talented, creative, and driven students — but your student clubs don’t always have the resources to bring those great ideas to life.
So we’re giving you a chance to make those dreams happen! We’re giving THOUSANDS of dollars out to clubs who are able to convince their peers, families, and community that their idea is truly a game changer for them.
How it works:
We don’t just want to hear about what you’d do with the money, we want to SEE it! This year, we’re asking for video applications of your best Think Big pitch. All videos will be shared on our website and social media, and your fellow students, family, and community members will vote for their favorite ideas.
What to know:
Video application
Create a video, up to 90 seconds long, that tells us why your club should receive funding.
Your video should help viewers understand:
- Who you are: What is your club and what do you do?
- What you want to fund: How would you use the money?
- Why it matters: What would this funding make possible for your club, your school or your community?
- Why you: What makes your project exciting, meaningful, or worth supporting?
Most importantly, make it your own! Your video can be funny, serious, creative, energetic, heartfelt or anything in between. We want to hear from you and see what makes your club unique.
Want some ideas?
Tell a story. Show us what your club is like and what you’re trying to accomplish.
Show, don’t just tell. If you’re asking for equipment, show us what you use now. If you’re creating an event, show us what it could look like. If you’d be travelling, show us where you’re going and why.
Start with a hook. You only have 90 seconds. Grab our attention right away!
Get creative. Try a skit, a mockumentary, a music video, BTS, an interview, a parody, stop-motion, animation or whatever else you can dream up.
A few guidelines
Maximum length: 90 seconds
One video per club. If you are collaborating with another club for a joint project, please only submit one video per project.
All students appearing in the video MUST submit a signed media release form (signed by a parent or guardian if under 18) with the video submission. Any videos submitted with missing releases will not be considered.
Videos should be submitted in vertical format (9:16) whenever possible.
All videos must be created by current students in the club.
Production quality won’t determine the winner. You don’t need fancy equipment, editing software or special effects.
Make sure your video can be understood with the sound off by including captions or on-screen text.
Use only music, images, and other content you have permission to use.
Don’t include private or identifying information about students.
Keep it school-appropriate. Videos that contain inappropriate or offensive content will not be eligible.
Don’t make a commercial. Make a video you’d actually want to watch!
Important dates
Deadline for video submission: Dec. 4, 2026
Voting opens: Jan. 11, 2027
Voting closes: Jan. 15, 2027
Spread the word
Each club will receive a toolkit to help spread the word to their friends and family to encourage them to vote -- the more community involvement, the better!
Thousands of dollars will be given out in award money!
There will be several prizes given out ranging from $500 to $1,500, with one grand prize of $2,000 awarded.
The Why and What
The challenge aims to support great student-led projects for clubs that have big ideas but few resources. The challenge will culminate in a “Think Big” video competition where votes will determine the winners!
Important Details
Applications must be submitted by Dec. 4th. Voting will take place the week of Jan. 12th. We can’t wait to see what our clubs come up with!
